White Fillings
Having surpassed their amalgam predecessors, white fillings are an effective option to restore not only the original strength and function to a damaged tooth, but also a natural appearance. Predominantly made form porcelain, white fillings are able to be precisely coloured to match your existing teeth. At The Dental Practice in Bathurst we use CEREC technology to aid in the creation and design of white fillings.
CEREC Technology
Using CEREC technology, ceramic restorations are able to be created to match the colour of your natural teeth. Firstly a 3D image of your tooth cavity is taken with a tiny camera. Then, once captured, the image is projected onto a screen. This image then programs a diamond coated milling machine to perfectly carve the restoration from a small ceramic block (all while you sit back and relax in the dental chair).
Once the restoration has been carved the treatment resumes as the restoration is fitted and bonded. Once fitted it is polished to result in a smooth and natural feel. The perfectly bonded porcelain ensures long life, maximum strength and a natural look for your tooth.
